We headed south from Sonoma County in Chris and Jodi’s land yacht, 008 drafting the big rigs to try and improve on our average of 9 miles per gallon. Our first night was the last we spent on the Pacific coast. On the beach that night 011 sunset colors merged with the lights of radio control enthusiast’s planes. 013 Wouldn’t it be nice if drones had fairy lights instead of rockets?

We arrived in Hollywood just in time for the Oscars craziness. la1 I was bummed that Beasts of the Southern Wild didn’t win a thing. The next day we headed east to the big desert. The first stop was a palm canyon in Anza Borrego, California. palm canyon035 This is the last photo I took before camera that had traveled the world with us for 10 years died. On the way out of the palm canyon we saw the most amazing full moon rise over the desert. <no photo here >You’ll have to imagine.

A Costo camera later and I’m back in business. Here are some land yacht photos.
